Product Description

The DUET Co-Culture system is: Interchangeable with other automated systems, Greater flexibility and freedom to launch additional experiments on different platforms, Effective for rapid proof-of-concept testing as well as configured for routine analysis, Scalable for any type of experiment, Faster results than with conventional methods

Features

How does it work?

  • Same sizes as a normal 96-well plate: compatible with virtually all existing microtiter-plate readers (incl., of course, the Cerillo Stratus).
  • Wells (square and larger than the wells of 96-well plates: 36 per plate) are paired in duets and separated by a porous semi-permeable membrane (0.8 micrometer filter).
  • Populations (e.g. bacteria, viruses or fungi) are separated by the membrane and are too large to move through it. Substances they produce/process/absorb can, however, move through the membrane.
  • In this way, the interactions between 2 different populations can be determined and measured, for example: bacterial colony 1 produces substance A that inhibits / boosts / influences the growth of bacterial colony 2 (on the other side of the membrane).
  • Through the Stratus plate reader, for example, the growth (and its rate) of populations can be determined (because the number of individuals in a population affects color saturation).
  • The duets can be detached from the plate, which makes preparatory work/sampling and/or other measurements even easier.
